ViennaDuo is a flute and guitar ensemble  living and performing in the heart of the capital of classical music. Inspired by the traditions and the atmosphere of Vienna,  Desislava Dobreva (flute) and Bozhana  Pavlova (guitar) combine jewels of the classical repertoire in an elegant way. Ambassadors of music from different epochs, ViennaDuo presents  exquisite sonority and a refined sense of style.  Playing with colours and shades, sounds  and silence they explore the richness of their  instruments and create an unforgettable experience for their audience. 

Desislava Dobreva

Flutist

The Bulgarian flutist Desislava Dobreva has been based in Vienna since 2005. Among her teachers in Vienna are Barbara Gisler- Haase, Birgit Ramsl, Karl-Heinz Schütz and in Paris Nathalie Rozat and Vincent Lucas. In 2013-2015 she was an academist of the Angelika Prokopp Summer Academy of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 2023 she was appointed as a flutist and piccolist of the Bruckner Orchester in Linz, Austria.

After a succsesfull audition Desislava Dobreva has been invited to play with the the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London for the Solo Piccolo position (trial), BBC National Orchestra of Wales (trial – Solo Piccolo), but also as a guest with all significant viennese orchestras: Wiener Philharmoniker, Wiener Staatsoper, Wiener Symphoniker, ORF – Radio Symphonie Orchester, Wiener Volksoper, Tonkünstler Orchester. She has made CD and TV recordings for Syncron Stage Orchestra, Sony classical, Deutschlandradio, ORF and BBC.

She is teaching at the Music School of Klosterneuburg and has been invited to give master classes in Mexico, Russia, Bulgaria and Austria.

Bozhana Pavlova

Guitarist

Bozhana Pavlova is a classical guitarist born in Bulgaria and living in Vienna. Currently, Bozhana Pavlova is teaching guitar at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna and previously at Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory in Graz. She is a laureate of a number of competitions in Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, Croatia and others. As a concert guitarist she has performed in renowned halls like Wiener Konzerthaus, Ehrbar-Hall, Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen, Bulgaria Hall. In Asia she has given concerts in 13 of the most significant theatre halls in China like Chongqing Grand Theatre, Qingdao Grand Theatre, Hefei Grand Theatre, Wuxi Grand Theatre and others. As a soloist she has performed with the Shumen Symphony Orchestra and Vidin Symphony Orchestra. Her recordings have been broadcasted by the Austrian national televisions ORF1, ORF2, the Bulgarian national radio and television BNR and BNT1, Radio Stephansdom. In 2021 she became a finalist at the renowned International Guitar Competition ’’Michelle Pittaluga’’, Città di Alessandria, member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions. Moreover, she received grants for high artistic achievements from the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria; Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna, ‘STARTStipendium’ for talented young musicians by the Austrian Ministry for Education, Art and Culture. In 2016 she became an awardee of SYLFF Tokyo Foundation, which supports exceptional young talents. Bozhana is an active member of the organisation team of Forum Gitarre Wien. She studied guitar at the National Music School „Ljubomir Pipkov“ in Sofia with Prof. Stolina Dobreva. After that she graduated at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in the class of Univ.-Prof. Mag. ArtD. Jorgos Panetsos and the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna with em.o.Univ.Prof. Walter Würdinger and Univ.-Prof. Adriano Del Sal. 2019 she completed her PhD studies at the New Bulgarian University with Prof. Dr. Panayot Panayotov. She attended master classes of David Russell, Carlo Marchione, Marcin Dylla, Aniello Desiderio, Goran Krivokapic, Hopkinson Smith, Dale Kavanagh, Olaf Van Gonnissen, Ivo Kaltschev, George Vassilev, Gerhard Reichenbach and many others. Bozhana is sharing her professional experience with students also while giving master classes at international festivals such as Forum Gitarre Wien, Albania Guitar Festival, Sofia Classical Guitar Days, Pleven Guitar Festival, Seckau Summer Academy, Zeillern Guitar Seminar and others. She is playing with strings provided by ‘’Hannabach’’.
